THE HEART OF THINGS
A true story of tragedy in a Nova Scotian fishing community
Text by Wanda Graham
Music by John Plant
Fishing is recognized as one of the most dangerous occupations in Canada today. The Heart of Things is inspired by a true story of tragedy in a Nova Scotian fishing community. When a stressed out young fisher, Junior, hangs himself to death from the mast of his boat, It inspires his twin, Bren, to act on their lifetime dream, to be accepted as a fisher.
Performance takes place in The Cookhouse at Memory Lane Heritage Village
Accompanying art exhibit “Fishers” featuring drawings by visual artist Curtis Botham will be on display in the Clam Factory
